Restaurant Strong Fund and Grubhub Award $10,000 Grants to Restaurants Across the Country

With Covid-19 cases spiking across the country and temperatures decreasing as we head into the winter months, the restaurant industry is more vulnerable than ever. According to the National Restaurant Association, 1 in 6 restaurants have closed down in 2020, totaling more than 110,000 restaurants nationwide. With restaurants employing more than 15 million Americans nationwide, we need to support them now more than ever.

Since March, the Restaurant Strong Fund has been working tirelessly to assist restaurants and restaurant employees. With amazing support to date, the fund has been able to provide over $7 million to this industry and most recently provided $1.9 million to restaurants through the Restaurant Winterization Grant program. In partnership with Grubhub and supported with a $2 million grant from the Grubhub Community Relief Fund (GCRF), the program provided $10,000 grants for eligible restaurants to winterize their outdoor dining spaces and increase their capacity for guests. Restaurants in Boston, Chicago, New York City and Philadelphia were eligible and the recipients for each city are below.

“With indoor dining shutting down again across the country, the ability to provide outdoor dining options is more crucial now than ever,” said Seth Priebatsch, chief revenue officer at Grubhub. “It’s been incredible working with The Restaurant Strong Fund to launch the Winterization Grant program and provide grants to restaurants in need in such a short amount of time. We know the months ahead will be tough, and we’re excited to be able to provide valuable support when it’s needed most.”
